The GTA Online Treasure Hunt is one of the most challenging missions, with clue locations hidden in concealed locations including deserts, mountains and caves. When getting closer to the clue, the sound of a metal wind chime can be heard. The clue is a note, pinned to a rock, tree or other object, and will be within the area pictured in the photo sent to the player's phone. The search radius for the initial search is very wide. If the player exits Online Mode or closes the game while the treasure hunt is not finished, then the entire mission will reset and a new hint note location will be assigned when online free mode is started again, regardless of the overall progress. A random email is sent to the GTA Online Protagonist from showing a black and white photo of an area to search for a clue to find an unspecified treasure.
